The Vision 2024 outlines what both Council and the Community see in Wollondilly s future

The Vision 2024 outlines what both Council and the Community see in Wollondilly's future.

Wollondilly Vision 2025

Last modified: November 20, 2008 - 8:10 AM

What is the Vision? Located on the outskirts of Sydney, Wollondilly Shire is under increasing pressure to adapt to growth and change. Council is committed to protecting our wonderful natural assets, improving lifestyles and looking after our residents.

Wollondilly Vision 2025 is a long-term guiding document for the future direction of our Shire. It was prepared by Council during 2003 with input from many individuals, community groups, businesses and State Government agencies, and it represents the combined community/Council view on the desired future of Wollondilly. It was devised to make sure that Wollondilly will continue to be a community that you want to live in, well into the future.

Wollondilly Vision 2025 contains nine Vision Statements covering a range of key issues:

1. A Wealth of Native Flora and Fauna
2. Healthy Waterways
3. Protected Rural Character and Environmental Heritage
4. Sustainable Farms
5. Well Designed Towns and Villages
6. Invigorated Main Streets
7. Green Space and Recreation Networks
8. Integrated Transport Network
9. An Integrated Community

These Vision Statements apply to all areas of the Shire - whether in towns or in rural areas. They highlight what the community wants to see the Shire look like in 2025, and ?give life' to what the vision is for the area into the future. Each of the Vision Statements includes pictures, to help you to actually see what the final outcome might be. They also have a number of key strategies that will help us achieve those outcomes.

The Vision Statements also include "risks" - to show where Wollondilly could end up if we do not work actively to manage the change in our Shire - in other words it shows just what the community does not want to see happen to Wollondilly.

The document also contains Vision statements for each of the towns and villages in the Shire. These show how the towns and villages should grow and retain their individual character. Town and village maps containing notes are included to help you understand the ideas for the future of your town.

How will it be implemented? In November 2003, Council adopted Wollondilly Vision 2025 as the overarching strategy to guide decisions on all of Council's activities, whether they be long-term strategic activities or day-to-day operational activities. So Council will be making sure that we focus on projects that take steps towards the Vision.

While Council has an important role to play, not everything is or can be done by Council. It's up to all of us to work together towards achieving the Vision. So Wollondilly Vision 2025 is a document for the community. It should help you, local businesses and community groups, to make decisions that affect the Shire's future.

The documents below make up Wollondilly Vision 2025. Due to the complex map's within some documents the file may take some time to load depending on your computer capacity. A hard copy of Wollondilly Vision 2025 is available for purchase from Council at a cost of $25.00.
