Profile - Central Ward - Cr Col MitchellLast modified: September 28, 2009 - 2:50 PM
During my time in Council I have ensured the expansion of sporting facilities, funding for the sporting complex site at Picton, the construction of a BMX track and skateboard ramp at Tahmoor and a second oval at Tahmoor. I have also actively supported a range of issues, including residential and industrial development, and increased road funding. I have pursued the issue of sewerage systems for all towns and villages, the quality of the roads, the availability of industrial land and have supported developments that would help maintain the WSC lifestyle. I have also worked to reintroduce a kerb-guttering and footpath program for all the villages. I have a number of goals for my time in office. I would like to see Wollondilly become an even greater tourist attraction, and would like to provide somewhat for demands for more residential allotments, and to promote industrial, commercial and residential development, as long as it has no detrimental effects on the Shire. I aim to continue to lobby for sewerage system connections throughout the Shire, oppose a second Sydney airport in Wollondilly, oppose any rail service cuts and ensure Wollondilly remains rural. I have lived in Wollondilly Shire for over 30 years with my wife and five children – all of whom still live and reside in the Shire. I spent a number of years working for the Shire as a Council employee, and now run my own business. Col has been a Councillor since September 1999, Col held the position of Mayor from 24 September 2001 to 15 April 2004, reelected Mayor September 2009. Committees:
