Community Forums

Last modified: November 13, 2009 - 11:11 AM

The Community Forums are a way for Council to gather information from the wider Wollondilly community on an informal face-to-face basis.

They give residents the chance to discuss community matters, or to raise a matter for information, for consideration, in the search of a solution(s), as a concern, or to get community and Council support.

The Forum

The forums proceed as follows:

  • Formal Community Forum Matters, as per set agenda.
  • Community Question Time.
  • Written Community Notice of a Matter for Discussion and Answer Time.
  • Chairperson brings Forum to a Close.
  • Informal Discussions with our Community over tea and coffee.

The main difference between Ordinary Meetings of Council and Community Forums is that you speak to an informally suggested matter, NOT a motion. They will not be run by formal meeting rules and there will be no resolutions, recommendations or motions passed in Community Forums.

The Community Question Time is for items that relate to the agenda for the Ordinary Meeting of Council. A copy of the agenda for the Ordinary Meeting of Council is available at the same time as the Community Forum agenda.

Written Community Notice of a Matter for Discussion and Answer Time is for any other matter the community wishes to raise.

Question forms must be submitted in writing by 12 noon of the day of the meeting.

Differing points of view or suggestions can be discussed and then suggestions can be made that reflect those discussions. While suggestions are to be advisory only, Council will consider them when making decisions and analysis of statutes and policies.

You can download a Question/Presentation form from the list of Downloads at the bottom of this page.

Community Forum Dates

Community Forums are normally held on the second Monday of each month (unless affected by public holidays), commencing at 6.30pm in the Council Chambers Gallery, 62-64 Menangle Street, Picton.

The schedule of Community Forums for 2009:

  • Monday 14 December 2009 - 6.30pm

Any variations to Council's Community Forum timetable will be advertised in the local papers and updated here.
