How do I get approval to construct a retaining wall on my land?

You should refer to Councils Development Control Plan Number 47 (Exempt and Complying Development) which lists retaining walls which are exempt from approval and situations where a Complying Development Approval (i.e a one off approval) can be applied for if the wall is a relatively straight forward development and meets with the predetermined standards listed in Development Control Plan No. 47 Group F. Retaining Walls and Masonry Fencing.

The DCP is available on Councils web site at http://www.wollondilly.nsw.gov.au/files/1982/File/031124DCP47_ExemptandComplyingDevelopment.pdf  or copies are available from Councils Customer Service Counter.
