Safe Cycling Competition

Wollondilly Shire Council is hoping to raise awareness about safe cycling by holding a competition to win a bike and helmet. The competition involves filling out an entry form that has multiple choice questions about safe cycling. The competition is open to children under 12 with parents/guardians permission. Phantom Cycles at Tahmoor are donating the bike and helmet and will be presenting the prize to the winner on 9 October 2009.
Entries are available on Council’s web site at www.wollondilly.nsw.gov.au with a link on the home page or can be picked up at the Council building. Entries must be delivered back to Council by 2 October when the competition closes. The first correct winning entry will be drawn at Council on 5 October and we will notify the winner on that day.
“Our Wollondilly Road Safety Group hopes by holding this competition, children will think about issues such as being road safe, regular bike maintenance and use of helmets. Establishing safe riding habits when children are young is a positive start to road safety later on,” said Mayor, Cr Michael Banasik.
“We would also like to encourage our local kids to use the shared cycleways which are found in Buxton, Tahmoor, Yanderra to Bargo (under construction), Warragamba and at the Botantic Gardens in Picton. It is a great time of year to be out and about in the lovely Spring weather and it helps keep the kids active,” said Cr Banasik.
