Thirlmere Welcome Sign

Welcome to Thirlmere Sign

Wollondilly Shire Council has recently erected a new Welcome sign to Thirlmere.

It is situated on Thirlmere Way near the rail crossing that leads into Thirlmere main street. The sign is an attractive addition to the township of Thirlmere and has been well received by the locals.

“The sign represents the rural ambience of the local area and the rail theme is in keeping with the Thirlmere’s Steam Train Museum, which is a major attraction for tourists,” says Mayor, Cr Col Mitchell.

The design of the sign was based on the rail heritage theme that Thirlmere is renowned for. It is a heritage red colour and there are rail timber beams to reflect this theme.  There is also landscaping around the sign using native shrubs representing Wollondilly’s rural living vision.

This project was funded by the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program from the Federal Government with a budget of $5000.
